So you can add another card down the road for a quick/cheap upgrade.
No shopping for two new cards, no selling on eBay. Just find the same card you have on NewEgg or somewhere and Plug & Play.

I still don't get it, if the board doesn't support sli or crossfire I"m saying what advantage does having two seperate cards do? and do they have to be the same? because I don't see it for gaming but maybe for running two different monitors doing completly diff stuff, still doesn't make sense in my mind though, care to explain more. because if upgrading later I'd do one and then another to complete the show.

Oh, you mean for like the nForce4 Ultra boards?
With those you can actually flash the BIOS and upgrade it to SLI capable, lol.
As for others (I don't know of any really), two cards would just allow you to run four monitors. Useful for graphic artists.
Even two monitors is a little limiting when I work in Photoshop, so working on just one right now is a major pain given the puny 17" of viewable area.

You could also use the spare 16x PCIe slot for add-on cards
16x speed slots are compatible with 1x & 4x speed cards.....
But mainly to allow 4x monitors......
DFI boards are all exactly the same, except for the chipset....
With older Ultra chipsets you could mod them to SLI chipsets
DFI can make 1 board for it's entire Lanparty range and save money.....
(expert board is the only lanparty board with a different layout)

True. Folks forget that the 16 speed slot is not restricted to graphics.

Gotta love the multiple monitors though. I wish I could get more.
