Internet Explorer Sound Issue

i have a problem with internet explorer as i have no sound playing through the speakers. everything else works fine but IE stops sound working like it's muted but not as volume mixer says ie has sound on
Any help would be great

Is it Flash or all media types?

all media types youtube, soundcloud, facebook and bbc iplayer. just the internet only
EDIT all fixed now finally ;)

If using Internet Explorer 8, go to Tools, Compatibility Mode and add that site.
And if that doesn't work download another browser and see if that plays sound. This will tell you if it is windows being ... well ... windows or an issue with IE.

You would be right in guessing that. Personnally I would still change browser though.
