S3 Graphics Dual Chrome S27 3DMark2005 Results

Post by Apoptosis »

We got a chance to look at a VIA K8T900 Reference motherboard powered by an AMD Athlon X2 4600+, 1GB DDR400 Kingston HyperX memory, and dual graphics card that were S3 Chrome S27 PCI Express graphics cards. The core on the S3 Graphics Chrome S27 is rated at 700MHz.

In a standard run of 3DMark 2005 this system scored 6653 3DMarks the first time we ran it and 6632 the second time. Not bad for the VIA chipset and the S3 S27 graphics cards. It you notice the cards don't need a bridge (nVidia) to run in dual card mode and no dongle is need either (ATI). Not bad and easier to run versus ATI's or nVidia's dual card solutions.

Thats a super price....you could build a cheap system with that and an easy / cheap upgrade down the line....

There is also great 2D performance with the S3...Doesn't it have hardware HD decoding?
