Onboard 7.1 surround sound

Post by DMB2000uk »

SO because my PC is MCE, its got a 7.1 onbooard soundcard. AC97 or something.

Do I have to enable some secret setting to get them working? Or use special speakers made for the job? Because I tried plugging in 2 other sets of speakers into the rear surroind ports, and a proper sub into the sub port :P but it didn't work.

I tried using HL2 with 5.1 or 7.1 and there was nothing except the front two speakers. I tried using cyberlink power DVD with enabling 5.1 and 7.1 speaker setups on the options. Nothing except the first two speakers again!

The onboard sound is enabled in the bios.

I know onboard soundcards are crappy, but i just wanted to try it out for the fun of it :P , anyone know something major Im doing wrong?

Thanks,

Dan

You need to change the speaker settings in the control panel.... ;)
