New Setup!

Post by DJ Tucker »

So i have decided i am finding it hard to do maintenance on this system as it's built into a desk. while cleaning it isn't to bad but draining the loop is a PITA. gravity on a desk build doesn't bode well and it's not easy to do on 35kg build. I am therefore buying a desk, case, rads and reservoir for my pump.

Nice! Should put lights on the red of the desk to make it glow and pulse with music or games :)

Gotta love when they say - Finish: Wood Effect - wood effect.....so paper mache with swirlies in it? LOL I am spoiled living where I do in Pennsylvania because we have Amish all around that we can buy solid wood furniture. Might be a little more up front but we still have every piece we bought!

the desk is 147cm wide but actual monitor stand part where case will be is around 115cm. monitor centred will leave me with 29cm either side of monitor for my 28cm wide case. desk in 67cm deep at bottom and 60cm deep at the top where case will be sat. case is 42cm deep so will fit nicely :). Build log will be posted as well as a before in desk and after on desk 8-[

I was planning on doing this at some point but only for aesthetics as music pulse don't work great for leds from my mobo or icue. it says wood effect as it is mdf with wood effect vinyl overlay for durability and waterproofing :)

Nice Lian Li 011D clone.. just missing the 3.5" HDD trays on the back. Nice compromise for being half the price.

Want to downsize a little, was looking at the 011D or 011D XL, and then I realized that its only 1" narrower than what I currently run, and I loose my 5.25 bay (yes, I have BR burner for archiving stuff)

That's my reason for this also. Downsizing and rearranging my reception room furniture has made more room to. I love the look of dual chamber cases but always wanted a pc inside a desk. While i love this desk it's a PITA to maintain. My new desk has already arrived and built ready for all the parts i ordered today ;). Should have this up and running just after christmas

So after most of Europe has closed it's borders to and from the uk, only my case arrived as it was a uk company. The rest of my order from aqua tuning uk (is in fact germany) was cancelled. So I have a new part list that I will be getting now that stock in the uk has been replenished.

My basket at Overclockers UK:
Total: £218.63 (includes shipping: £10.50)

ImageImageImageImageImageImage
Here is my new case and desk together. Excuse my cat (mickey) bless him. This is his new bed for now :)

Nice man! Wow, shut down kinda sucks. Due to the virus or something else? If it is the virus, people are going to extremes! When should your new parts be there? I wanna see the finished build.

Mickey pm'd me and requested a heated blanket for his bed :supz:

The UK borders have been shutdown,
due to a new more contagious strain of the Corona virus or at least that's what I read yesterday!

Let us know if we have to try to mount a rescue operation - this stuff is getting crazy! I always wanted to be a "prepper" with a nice underground area that was safe but am too lazy and too poor to do it.

So a major set back after i got my order today.
Image

In my new case it turns out my mobo is slightly longer than i expected and so the bottom 240mm rad is not useable . A return is in order for the rad and universal res bracket that didn't work on this res either. so i now have a half finished system with no completion in sight until the correct res bracket arrives around mid January :(

That sucks when you spend that much time picking everything out for a new build or rebuild
and one item throws a wrench in the whole works!
Cases today or so varied in size and design, its hard to find one that fits everything perfect! :(

I know when you get done, it will be perfect! :)

Ugh that is so frustrating!!! You think everything is in order and BAM one little thing is different than you are used to and screws it all up :(

Well you will get it up and running, just may take a bit longer is all.

.....plenty of time for that pink light upgrade for someone's computer....... O:)

It's annoying as heck. Didn't take my mobo size into account so my bad really. As for the bracket, EKWB said it's universal and will fit almost all reservoir/pump combo. Just so happens my res is the one that is not compatible. Nothing on there website though either :(. However perfect is a far cry but it will look awesome. The space i have saved in my reception room is amazing. now the kids can run all around me

Re: New Setup!

For my phone reset itself and everything on my phone has gone. I have lost all my build photos that thankfully was the only thing i didnt have backup. However, after my backup pc motherboard bricked itself for no reason, i was forced to build this new system a little before i got my res bracket. The res/pump is resting on the fan for now and fan is off due to the system heating up and the fan knocking the bottom of the case. Once bracket arrives i will drain the system and mount the res to the fan and put a 90 degree on the inlet to clean up that awful arch :)

Image

Not terribly happy with so many wires visible but i can deal with that until the bracket arrives and sort them out then.

Image

Over all not a bad build but could be better had a not been in the middle of house repairs (bedrooms unusable for a week), lockdown and therefore limited for space. hopefully i should get my build completed by end next week :)

WoW!
Sounds like you are having a string of bad luck!
To lose Everything on your Phone and Brick your PCs Mobo at the same time has got to be hard to accept!(Or Believe)
At least you are smart enough to have had Most of your phone backed up!
With that said, you are making me Flinch real hard! If I lost everything on my phone, it would be a hard loss!

Ok, in the middle of typing this post my UPS went off!
Side note...Thanks to Chrome for backing me up and restoring my tabs AND this Post!

DJ, Sorry for your loss(es) and I'm sure your setup will look great when you're done!

I'm going to end this here and go backup my PC & Phone! 8-[
