D-link DL-4300 gaming router, Thoughts?

Post by Dragon_Cooler »

After i get off work tonight i am going to go to frys and get one. they have them for 89.99 after rebate. I was just wondering if anyone here has one so i can hear good things so i wont feel as bad when i get one. :|

The main thing in it is the gigswitch. I also have problems with people dling and uploading on my network, so i want to be able to control my ping when gaming!

ok well i bought it anyway. ITS FREAKING NICE!!!!!!!!

Not only does it look cool it performs really nice. I tested it last night playing some BF2 in a server with 17 ping. I uploaded a 200meg file to my ftp server and my ping only jumped to about 30-32!!!!! I Tested downloading a 50meg file on another computer from my ftp and my bf2 ping only went to about 23 from 17.

The web interface in it is amazing!!! Of course with me being a server admin type person, I enjoy anything i can control in my equipment. You can do just about anything and everything with the admin control from basics like setting up ACL(access control lists) to prioritizing certain game traffic. (i.e. bf2 will get higher priority than WoW players)

I believe HARDOCP tested using VoIP and got amazing results when uploading and downloading files!

89bucks after rebate it beleive was a nice steal!!

that is it, except it was 119 in store with a 30MIR :)

This thing works soo much better than my older netgear. It was instant internet when i plugged it in and configured everything. my netgear i would have to power off the modem, power off the router and turn one on at a certain time or else it would sync right or something. This is soo easy to use yet soooo many features!!

what would be really cool is if they had a router with 2 WAN ports so you can get 2 individual cable connections or a cable and a DSL connection and do some load balancing..

if one could afford it.. heh..
