I just need a suggestion for a solid router for my neighbor. He isn't a gamer or anything, but would like a strong signal.

Any wifi speed preference?
Does it need a built in ADSL modem?
Any ethernet cabled ports needed?

I use the netgear DG834G (g/b, 4 port and modem) and its been pretty solid for me.

Coverage is ok I guess. If you want more speed/coverage you can go for the Turbo-G things at 108mbps (eg. DG834GT), or some pre-N stuff (but pre-N will require new reciever cards)

I have the Linksys WRT54GS and have been very happy with it.

It has most everyhing you'll need:

Wireless with built in wired 4 port switch
DHCP server
WEP and WPA support
MAC address filtering
etc....
etc.....

That will only work with the WRT54GS and WRT54G!!

Make sure you don't try to flash that firmware on any other Linksys models!!!!

yeah, i would hope that whoever plans on doing that would RTFM!

they do make releases for specific models and versions of those models so please be aware of what you're doing or you'll give your router a lobotomy.
