Hey. I'm planning to build a rig pretty soon. Will this configuration work?

I want to overclock the processor to save money. The next higher processor for AM2 they have is a 3800+ for $100 more. If I do overclock, I shouldn't use the stock heatsink/fan and get a good aftermarket one, like Zalman, right? Plus on one of the reviews for the power supply, the guy said he had trouble putting it in and had to cut out part of his case. Should I worry about that? And in the pictures of the motherboard, the red cable is the SATA, right?

Well if you want to overclock.... then there are a few problems with what is listed. First off the PSU.... Logisys.... no Fortron, Sparkel, Seasonic, Emacs, Zippy, OCZ, Antec grab one from that list in the same wattage range. You dont want your computer being fried when that Logisys PSU dies.

Next... you dont have any cooling listed your going to need an after market cooler to keep that chip from running to hot. I would suggets something from Thermalright, Scathe, or Thermaltake if your going air. Something with heatpipes and that takes no less than a 90mm fan 120 would be preferable.

Motherboard, this one im not so sure about as the motherboards are so new i dont knwo much aoubt what brands are good for overclocking. Generaly Asus, DFI, Abit, Epox, and MSI make the better overclocking boards. ECS sometimes will come out with a decent one. But biostar... i really have no idea about this one. Your welcome to take the risk but i can guarrentee nothing as i know nothing about the baord.

Other than thoes 3 thing i think you have made very good choices! Welcome to the forums and enjoy leaning and building your new PC.

That being said. AM2 offers little to no performance gain over 939. I'm personally an Intel guy. But to each his own
