Copy Windows from one drive to another?

Can I drag my Windows (and the entire contents of the drive) from Drive C to Drive E (new Raptor?) Can't get Windows to install for some reason....will it work? I don't care how crazy it is.

no you can not!!!
there are boot records that wont be transferd. you need something like norton ghost or a similar program.

Even with Show Hidden Files (such as System Volume Info) on?

It still wouldn't work, as DC said there is a boot record...it's not visable in windows.....without it the hdd won't boot......It gets loaded by the bios.....and it's on the first few sectors of the drive.
You could try it.....but you'll need to boot from your xp cd aferwards and boot into te recovery console....then run the command "FIXMBR"
I don't k now if that would work......to be on the safe side.....don't delete your current data...
If you do it, let us know if it works.....it could be usefull!

you can use diskcopier or norton ghost to do such thing as copy entire windows hd. HOwever, personally, I think it's best to install windows rather than just copy it.

I just reinstalled. It stopped blue screening. Some combo of Full Format and removing the X-Fi made it work....
