Chip hits 500Ghz (extreme cold)

IBM and Georgia Tech have coaxed a chip to run at 500GHz, a record for a silicon-based device, by dropping the temperature to minus 451 degrees Fahrenheit. (-267c)
At room temperature, the IBM-Georgia Tech chip operates at 350GHz, or 350 billion cycles per second. That's far faster than standard PC processors today, which range from 3.8GHz to 1.8GHz. But SiGe chips can gain additional performance in colder temperatures.
i will take this one at room temprature also...

I've heard of similar chips that are like 8088's and 80286's that reconfigured can hit remarkable speeds like that at room temps.
Anyone want to run the world's fasted Windows 3.11 OS?

sound wierd because their tech was larger then 0.18u

IBM and Georgia Tech have announced that they have broken the world silicon speed record with a chip that operates at half a trillion cycles per second, some 250 times faster than chips found in conventional cell phones.

just think of getting a processor of 500Ghz near my brain makes me shiver
