[FIXED] WGA Has screwed my computer

For some reason random windows updates will not install on my machine, this happened when MS first optionally released Windows Genuine Advantage, but i wasn't too fussed.

But now the WGA installation files have downloaded to my laptop and are set to install upon shutdown. However it will not install and just hangs constantly saying that its installing updates and then that i shouldnt turn off my PC. I left it to shut down last night, but when I came to it to day the battery was 100% discharged (from a full charge!) :S it never installed and never shut down!

What is there I can do to fix this issue, as its doing it every time I try and shut down.

Thanks for all the help guys! :P

lol, j/k its my impatience really.

I can remember having a similar problem a while back with another update, but couldnt remember how I fixed it last time. What it is is that windows downloads a corrupted version of an update install patch and subsequent times of running windows update fails to re-download it! STUPID WINDOWS!!!

How i fixed it was you have to rename the catroot2 folder in windows/system32, this is where the downloaded things are stored. Doing so forces windows to re-download the update, and hopefully this time round it wont get corrupted! yey for solutions on the interwebs!
