u know..i never really thought that those reports of exploding laptops would hit me close...but last week my lil cousin's laptop felt like doin somethin to that nature..apparently she either left it on over night on her bed or somethin else..but all i know is.. i got a call after work saying that the laptop caused a fire.. her bedrooms burned down..house is salvageable..but all of her clothes and toys and.just everything is gone...either way..those damn things are SUPPOSED to be built so that doesnt happen (unless i never read a label on a laptop sayin it can lol) anyhow...just thought id say be careful with those things dudes...i never thought it could happen to me or my fam..but it did:/

is it a dell? they recalled a pile of AC adaptors in '04 and batteries just last december. we had a couple lappys here at work that the batteries had to be replaced.

I also heard of a laptop in a truck that carried ammo in it and the truck caught fire. They don't know "for sure" if the fire was caused by the laptop of not....

Crappy laptops!!!
I don´t know why they make such low quality laptops. At least, there weren´t any injured people.

it was one of those cheap Averatec laptops....not sure what my uncle is gonna do but...if hes smart ill predict a lawsuit...the company will probably say.."it shouldnt have been left on all nite on a bed" or whatever...my arguement would be..why wasnt the laptop ensured to be 'safe' in the first place?.you know ..Quality Control?....simple option on the power setting are set to turn off after a certain point in time is on by default...i know it was set to turn off after like 10-15 minutes of no use when i used it on christmas day to see if it was a good one or not.....i had a bad feelign it was crap anyway..looked and felt like it...but im not gonna tell my lil 6yr old cousin that..i still dont know why my uncle got her one this early in her life anyway lol..but oh well...she is spoiled..or was now :p

I always knew that laptops and beds didn't mix, why didn't the thermal protection kick in and shut the laptop off? Was the ignition point of the bedclothes below that?
And if it wasn't on the bed, definite lawsuit time...
Though that may mean that laptops get a unsuitable for children sticker on them!
