It's rapidly becoming apparent that i'm gonna need a new mother board. My question is how much am i gonna get out of a "new" 939 board (939 to match my old processor) or should i scrap them both and go AM2. the price diff is probably gonna run around $400 if i go AM2. Is it worth it?
Also, i purchased a Thermaltake Big Typhoon CL-P0114 120mm Cooling Fan with Heatsink just before my rig decided to quit on me and didnt even get it out of the box. I've read a few articles on compatability, and they seem to disagree as to wether or not it will fit an AM2 board/cpu.
any ideas?
939 or AM2

id agree with Apop but if you insist on AMD (like me
) then id go with AM2. AM2 uses DDR2 though so your youll have ot buy new ram but if you upgrade now then later all youll have to buy is K8L since i think its gonna be an AM2 part. This is what I have:
AMD X2 4200+
ASUS M2N-e nForce 570 Ultra Mobo
Patriot 2GB DDR2 667mhz
Total: 525.98
Keep in mind that with this configuration I was able to OC the 4200+ from 2.2ghz to 2.8ghz and Apop did even better but im on water and in all honesty as big an AMD fan as I am the C2D kicks the current gen K8 platforms butt. Also if your using an AGP vid card youll need to upgrade that as well, why odnt you drop 750 bucks for an 8800 GTX!
