Does anyone know of a way to either reset or re-install the Internet Connection Settings of Windows XP? The setup CD for my router fouled it all up, now the machine sharing the connection has an internet gateway come up when I connect the machine to my router via network cable. The connection im sharing is thru a PCMCIA 3G card and it worked before I switched routers and ran the new setup CD.

So long story short I need a way to reset ICS or re-install it.

Help would be much appreciated! :)

??
What do you mean? Do you see a new Icon in "network connections"? If you do.....it's fine...it's "universal plug&play"

What's prolly happened is your network card has lost it's IP settings.
How did you setup the LAN connection the first time? Was it via a wizard?
If it was, then all you should need to do is manually assign the IP address(s) again. Windows by default uses the following settings;

PC used to share internet connection
IP: 192.168.0.1
Subnet mask: 255.255.255.0
Gateway: should be blank on pc used to share internet connection

2nd PC
IP: 192.168.0.2
Subnet: 255.255.255.0
Gateway: IP of first PC (192.168.0.1)

Try those settings, if that doesn't work, can the laptop connect and view webpages?

well I get a new icon in network connections called an internet gateway but its disabled and when I try to enable it it disappears and then reappears as disabled.

Before when it worked there was no internet gateway icon that ever came up on the host machine. It only appeared on the client machines and now it only shows up on the host and not the clients and the clients cant access the internet.

Ok I stumbled across something last night.

Apparently the connection is being shared but only a few ports are because get this: I can join games and play CS:S just fine but I cant view the start up page, browse the internet or play BF:2142 they all say theres no connection.

WTF?
