it depends on the game, most monitors scale resoluutions though but if you need to set it manually then try looking for a configuration file in the game directory and open it in notepad, sometimes theres a way to input a custom resolution in there.

I've been looking and can't find out I can get some games to open and run at resolutions like 1280x1024 and others won't with the same resolution. I'm not sure whats wrong but this monitor had great reviews and everything I wanted but I'm wondering if its my os and needs a driver specific to the monitor.

fixed it by getting a friends dvi cable instead of the vga it came with. too bad it doesn't work well with the vga it came with since it didn't come with dvi I have to go buy one now.

usually, if, it gives me out of range, it is when i am restarting. i just let it go and it comes back on the windows login screen.
Ive had it since last xmas. i love it.

Yeah just got my new dvid cable today ordered a nice one off newegg, but was hoping to get dvi-i which is near impossible so I settled fro dvi-d since digital was waht I needed anyway. Its a great monitor besdies that issue I was having, just wouldnt' detect the true settings of the monitor without dvi for some reason. Everytime i've had questions you guys have been really helpful.

I just got mine in the mail this past week and just installed it about an hour ago (I was camping

), and it works fine out of the box with a plain old vga cable. I'll get a dvi one sometime, but it's ok so far. Could it be your graphics card or driver that was the true problem?

if you installed the driver taht came with it it might have been that for the vga but for some reason on it it would register resolutions up to 3200x2800 or something along those lines then it wouldnt' come back out. I couldn't' use the driver that came with it just windows one because its not xpx64 compatible like most things. could have been a variety of things but my nice 9 dollars 27pin DVI is rocking the house and everything auto fixed when I used it so if you have problems go dvi, and even if not it does tend to work a bit better with it. Digital to digital you know.
