Saved The Day

So I just got hired on to a small computer buisness here (FixMyPC - 9 Employee's total including me and the owner).

First day on the job I went to the local boat and some other crap show and set up a booth for my boss and ended up staying there all day.

But KTBS Fox 33 showed up at my booth BEGGING for me to fix their nascar simulator (they had people lined up to drive...talk about putting me on the spot).

So after some intense screen reading (ie no monitor, just a regular TV with blurry text) I managed to find out the whole car was rigged through the game port as a 2 button, 2 axis.

So, it wouldn't detect the damn controller, I had to swap out the audio card and run around the show looking for an internet connection and ended up downloading the drivers (which didnt work anyway by the way) but as soon as I manually did the drivers and uninstalled all the old I got her to fire up.

I got 30 laps in the simulator and got a nice pat on the back from the whole convention and a BIG ARSE PLUS with my new boss who now adores me even more than before because she just landed a six digit contract with KTBS for Tech Support.

Does this mean I get a raise? :finga:

lol,

I think they will, the owner is VERY nice and generous when it comes to pay if you do your job.

If you DONT do your job and piss around you don't get paid as much.

We make an hourly rate + 12% comission on how many computers we've finished and they've picked up....around 2500-3000 a month on average according to keyvan the owner.

Regardless of the raise situation, good job! It's things like that that people will remember as something that sets your company apart from others.

People are the biggest investment for any company. Sounds like your a great rep for a small growing company. They can always use the knowledgable, but if you're an intelligent problem solver AND can communicate with clients well, then you bring in more sales and become real talent.

You mentioned time for a raise, if anyone is seriously considering changing jobs or looking for more money I used these sites when job hunting:
