haha, that was good... apparently vista also doesn't support Open GL yet, so if you wanna play games like UT (or any other that uses Open GL) you'll only be getting 10% of what you'd get off xp. now THATs why im not upgrading yet

Same here, mainly because UT is the only game I play on a regular basis

I hope they eventually get all of the bugs worked out of Vista. I'm happy with XP though for now and won't be upgrading for a while. I like that Vista'd shredder.

I hope vista falls flat on it's face and nearly ruins microsoft. The draconian drm and WGA built into it coupled with heartless licensing makes this a deal breaker for me. If everything moves to vista, which it probably will, I'll just keep my current pc's for as long as I can and stop caring about the computer world or finally man up and move to Linux.

Despite Vista's supposed short comings, it will be the new standard, like it or not. For me, and with most IT people across the globe, I won't consider buying it until the first service pack comes out.

Some how I highly doubt the authenticity of the guy getting a BSOD with incompatible hardware, more likely than not it is either some guy who is a mac/linux fanboy, or he just got a free copy. Why else would he put software resellable for an easy $100, through a paper shredder?

The whole OpenGL is just Microsoft vs the world. DirectX was created by MS, and OpenGL was created else where. DirectX is the better software, so naturally it would get a higher priority.

Every piece of software naturally has bugs, nothing is perfect the day it is released, that is what patches and service packs are for. Vista as a ground breaking product is merely going through a maturation period.

Ohh and to werewolfdaddy, linux is hugly more complex than using Vista, you have to find drivers, everything, and good luck running games and other programs on it. Unless you are knowledgable with programming, computer organization, and the use of linux commands, it might not be such a hot idea. Ohh and I can gaurentee that Vista will not in any way ruin Microsoft. Sorry

I've been running Vista for over 3 months now, and I can't go back to XP. Vista's biggest changes are under the hood. Developpers get access to better APIs, network managers receive a lot of new tools to apply policies to their LAN, etc.

End users are not the one who will appreciate Vista's features in the beginning. However, I can assure you that I will have finished upgrading our company's 100+ PC to Vista within a few months. Yes, it's worth it.

Seriously, I'll get it when the first SP comes out...I just hope they don't go to that OS every 3 years plan they have. I'd rather they get 1 OS and keep it for 8 years fixing as much as possible.

I just am very pleased with XP pro right now and, as it seems most agree, Vista will be embraced but maybe if they throw in some useful drivers (ahem Nvidia).
