the current (aka crappy) build as promised. i hope to GOD that SOMEONE can help me squeeze everything i can out of this crappy PC. it's old. it sucks. i want to kick it off of the grand canyon. :axe:

PCU - Intel Celeron 631 MHz estimated PR757 128kB ECC Synchronous Write-Back
Chipset - Intel 82810E 810E Host-Hub Interface and Memory Controller
front side bus speed 1x 66MHz
512MB SDRAM
i can't for the life of me figure out what motherboard is on this thing so i put the chipset for you all.
it has a radeon 7000 series card...
SiSofteware Sandra says i have a Compaq 06C0h "mainboard" (mobo?
)

any help or should i just be content with it while i wait for my new machine's funds to be saved? :dunno:

Is this by chance a Compaq computer?

You not gonna get much more on a rig that old so I would save up for a much needed upgrade.

yes it is and...

Corsair would be a good choice as Asus and Corsair worked closely with eachother to ensure both of the products work together without a hitch.

More specifically any memory kits that use the Micron D9 chips.

yeah those Corsairs have come highly recommended.

the ram with this link ( http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.a ... 6820231065 )
looks tempting. hows it stack up to some Corsair Dominators or this other one?

Dominators...

other corsair...

back to the topic though lol
so there's absolutely nothing i can do to to squeeze any more out of this current pc?

The Gskill you listed is better than the corsair. G-Skill has Micron D9MGH which is a know good ocer, if you can supply it with voltage above 2.1

I can recommend a Kingston 2GB Ram Kit, works fine on my Gigabyte DS4

Have you taken a look at what OCZ has? Their platinum edition is pretty good. nice overclocker, I put mine from 800 mhz, 4-5-4-15 to 900mhz, 4-4-4-13. and they have a warrentee for their RAM, up to 2.2 volts.

I have tried them at upto 2.4 volts, and they remain cool to the touch

Or You can get some of their SLI ready RAM, they have special profiles that the motherboard can enable, essentially instanct overclock. I know this feature works on 680i mobos, but I am unsure of the 650's.

Have you taken a look at the 680i mobos? they are much better than the 650's. If they are only slightly more expensive, then I highly recommend them. Though they are a bit pricy
