Hi all, I'll be installing a new mobo, cpu, and ram configuration in my rig and would like to know what is the best way to get my current install of xp pro spk2 to run on the new setup. I would like to avoid reinstalling which is why I'm asking this question. I do have quite a few partions which are all linked in one way or the other

the following is the senerio:

18GB Partition = XP Pro install
94GB Partition = Programs & Games
97GB Partition = Programs & Games

Here's a pic of my Disk management utility:

Whoops here's a better one:

current setup:

cpu: AMD athlon 64 3500+ vinice
Ram: OCZ EB DDR PC-4000 1024MB Platinum Edition x2
mobo: ASUS A8N-SLI Premium

To:

cpu: Amd am2 4200
ram: Corsair XMS2 Xtreme w/Heat Spreader 2GB kit
MoBo: Asus M2N32-SLI Deluxe/Wireless Edition

I will be swapping out the 185GB ide for a 250GB sata 2 drive
I basically want to be able make it so that the new configuration reads exactly the same s the old one, in relation to the os and programs.

thanx in advance,

This is what I use for things like that, don't know if it'll help you, if you don't want to purchase it. http://www.partition-manager.com/

well you're most likely going to end up with problems if the mobo have different chipsets. best bet is to just start fresh. but if you really really can't deal with that, then i read somewhere that you can uninstall all your devices in device manager and restart with the new hardware. cant guarantee anything though.
