boot.ini erased

Post by intensive »

I need a tool that can boot and restore file. I've erased boot.ini on my laptop internal hdd and can't boot now. What utility can you recommend to use me?

run setup on your XP disk, choose recovery console, then run the FIXBOOT command. Your boot.ini will be restored!

as already mentioned you can rebuild the boot sector and specifically just the boot.ini with the installation CD for Windows XP when using repair.

Hi,
I suppose you use Active@ Undelete. The tool is capable of creating boot disk, thats exactly what you're asking for. it will boot and then restore data

The point is I had no windows CD (
In the end I could just only try out recommended third party tools, and the undelete worked. I don't mind it all now, when the laptop is back2life, but still thank you all for answers.
