should just be able to set the .gif as background image

this animated on xp:

maybe there is some file requirement to set it directly.

try active desktop? display properties, desktop tab, customize desktop button, web tab, click new then browse to local gif or paste web addy

Anything useful in the gif you'll be displaying?

If you can view an animated GIF in the Windows Picture and Fax Viewer, then all you need to do is to set the animated GIF image as the Desktop Background. :)

Now, to make the animated GIF file is another story....

beware that this uses up a lot more CPU and RAM so change it before gaming
