Need your help on a laptop & desktop pc

My computer is getting to the stage where it was good when we brought it but now it is pretty much useless. I cant do any gaming on it because of all the low specs and i now want a new pc and laptop for other family use.
The laptop does not need to be anything majorly good, it just needs to do the basics such as internet and other personal use, preferably fast loading. In pricing I would be looking around a maximum of £500
The PC which will be for my gaming usage. I have the games but cant really play them at the moment. Games like half life 2 and counterstrike typed games. A pc that I can play new games when they come out on would be great. But i don't want to spend alot of money on one as the oe i have been looking at on the internet fora gamng pc is about £1000. This would be a bit high fr me though.
