160GB fills fast, especially if you have music, videos and games on the same drive. Heck, I only have Windows, apps and games and my Raptor is stuffed :(

PSU = :axe: (Ultra may make "decent" PSUs, but there are far better choices out there)

The corsair 520 psu is far superior.

ya but it only gives 520W, i know watts isnt everything, but i might overclock so im not sure if 520 will be enough, atleast 550 i think?

and 160GB is plenty, i have 120GB drive right now and ive only used about 55gigs

Trust me, the Corsair can take it and then some. Modular cables. -Quiet operation. -Continuous power supply. The most important decision in your entire rig is the PSU...make it wisely.

your idea of how many watts you need is grossly overrated. My sig, with watercooling uses 250W. At the most yours uses 350 overclocked way beyond what you think that chip can do. Its fine. That PSU can run this http://www.theinquirer.net/default.aspx?article=38310. It draws far more than your rig ever will

and? Whats your point? You want a real review, because some dope said the inquirer is bad on a forum and everyone believes it? Jonny Guru, the best PSU tester on the web. http://www.jonnyguru.com/review_details.php?id=28

5yr warranty
80% efficiency
No ripple
Essentially a single rail PSU
Insanely Cheap.
54A on the 12V

The ultra has 35, is not proven reliable, hey its up to you but when that PSU can't handle the load of all that hardware especially when overclocking, and it dies and takes out half your components its nobody's fault but you. The ultra is no were near the build quality of the Corsair

You spend 750+ dollars on all that hardware and you cheap on the PSU.

take 80% of what this tells you and it will tell you how much power you need http://www.extreme.outervision.com/psucalculator.jsp

lol, sorry if i came on harsh about the inquirer, i was referring to u literally sent me to the home page to the inquirer,i had no idea where to look for the article about power usage on the computer haha

but anyways i also saw the ultra on jonnys review it got a decent 9/10 aswell

the calculator gave me about 490watts with OC cpu, and a few fans im gonna add, so it should be good, but its not an exact number

but other then the psu, wat about the other components? is everything else decent?

Corsair for the PSU

Seagate for the HDD, for a few dollars more you can get a 250G 7200.10(perpendicular)
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.a ... 6822148142

Is the X-Fi audio card that much better than the onboard 8CH HD audio?
Thats $82 that could be spent elsewhere... An ASUS mobo a better CPU or video card, maybe more memory.

nah im fine with a 160GB HD, that 250 is a 8mb cache, the 160 is 16mb cache so its a bit faster

and ya i love my music quality so i need a soundcard, onboard sound just dosent cut it for me, plus the x-fi has its own processor to process the sound, so it takes a small load off the CPU, i would get a cheaper card tho... but the Xtreme audio dosent do well at all... and im not to sure about the drivers with the other brands or quality and performance

personally i'd look into either an ASUS or ABIT board, but thats just me :)
i haven't heard anything horrible about gigabyte in this forum, so i'd assume you picked a "decent" motherboard. check out some of the motherboard reviews here, might just change your mind: http://www.legitreviews.com/articles/motherboard/

also i'm wondering what kind of case/cooling you're planning on using?

Please ignore Dicecca112's attitude... We try to run a flame free forum and sometimes when Dicecca doesn't get to go outside for recess he gets angry and lashes out! :) Looks around for cattle prod or shock collar :buttkick:

I also second the Corsair PSU and you can read my review on it here: http://www.legitreviews.com/article/371/1/ and this one that has it in it: http://www.legitreviews.com/article/372/1/

yes I apologize, there was a misunderstanding on both sides. I'm a little passionate about my PSUs.

*writes I wil not lash out at new members when the choose PSUs I don't agree with 1million times on LR Blackboard*
