This computer: PC Chips mobo, corsair XMS 512X2 DDR2, AMD X2 AM2, Onboard video & sound & Nic

When I restart this computer, it seems to have about an 80% chance to Hang (freeze?) Right after it detects my processor (but before it lists the hard-drive and CD roms) at the bottom it says press "DEL" to enter setup, but if I press DEL it wont enter setup the system is completelly locked up.

If I keep restarting it eventually it will pass this part

Then, again, at the screen where it says "verifying DMA pool data" (i think) It sometimes locks up right there again.

Eventually I restart it enough I get into windows and all is well.

I just realized if I remove my mouse from the USB port it still freezes though only about 10% of the time instead of 80%...

If im using a very old keyboard or mouse (keyboard is PS2) can something like this occur...

Yes it is, there was never a bios update for this mother board, its still v1.0 and says so on their website.

Sounds like a memory issue.......timings too tight? XMS is normally low-latency ram, mayby that PC Chips board can't handle it?

Is it overclocked?

not overclocked at all, in fact it may be underclocked, since I left everything on auto.

Why dont you try to run memtest and see if you get any errors... Try another power supply if you can too (maybe one from a friend's pc).
By the way whats your hardware and psu wattage?
