Asus p5b-e should support sata hot swap (most probable on the. So if there is no esata connector on the back of the mobo, go buy a sata-esata cable (they are very cheap) and an esata enclosure.. This will give you sata-I speed..
Why go usb with such a huge drive.

I dont have a specific enclosure to suggest, but i would definately choose an e-sata one.
The P5B-E supports the next-generation hard drives based on the Serial ATA (SATA) 3Gb/s storage specification, delivering enhanced scalability and doubling the bus bandwidth for high-speed data retrieval and saves. The external SATA port located at the back I/O provides smart setup and hot-plug functions. Easily backup photos, videos and other entertainment contents on external devices.
Seems it already has one esata connector.

Thanks,
I would prefer to go with the esata for my systems, but also wanted to be able to back up a laptop and older systems tool
