I have done no changes to my CPU in a long time so I know I didn't mess anything up, but here is my problem.

RAM checks ok and it gets to the
verifying DMI pool data... (this clears and the next line is)

A disk read error occurred
press ctrl+alt+del to restart

but that does nothing

I check all voltages off the P/S they seem fine, checked the battery that reads ok, could the HD be bad?

Any help is always appricated

I tried booting from the cd, it still comes up with the same error, after the boot from CD I press enter it waits a bit then back to the original error

If you boot in to BIOS can you see the HD? If your BIOS has the option to detect HD do so and see if it's still there. I was working on a friends machine with a removable 'hot swap' IDE drive this week and had the same problem with a clean install of Windows. Only got it to work after removing the HD in the 'hot swap' and replacing it with another

you can also try resetting bios to factory defaults - sometimes 1 little setting can throw everything off.

I had a similar situation a long time ago. It ended up being my boot sector of the hard drive was corrupt. I ended up using a hard drive utility on a floppy to restore it.

If that is the case you can go to the windows recovery console and fix the mbr

type HELP for commands - I think it is just FIXMBR
