I'm in the market for new speakers! My Logitech X230s are great, but I'm thinking they can do other duties.

I'm looking at these two sets.
Option 1: Logitech Z-5500
Option 2: Creative GigaWorks G550W

Which of those two would you choose? If you recommended others, what others, and why? Try not to top the price on those GigaWorks...ouch...

Also, would it be possible to attach my existing speakers to the last port on the X-Fi and use them as the last two to make these into a 7.2 setup (two subs)?

i've got the Logitech Z-5500, had'em for a little over a year now..

i LOVE those speakers.. the sub has plenty of power, which is nice for music but even nicer for the sweet sounds of a chopper hovering by in BF2 :)

i dont think you can go wrong with either one, but i wouldn't hesitate to purchase these Logitech speakers again. although wires aren't a problem for me..

Out of those 2, the Logitech.

The Creative S750 gives higher quality playback, but is over $430 USD on newegg.

Haha I have the Z5500s sitting on my desk as I type this. They rock. I dropped the Creatives from consideration because of problems with the wireless rear speakers that I had heard of.

I would definitely go with the Logitech. A friend has those in his set up and his gaming and music experience blew me away. A wonderful set of speakers. I would so love to have a set.

have you given any thought to klipsch?? the pro media ultras deliver some serious bass and sound. Which ever ones you get, you have to setup in the corner of a room with the sub in the corner with you....you will get the most out of it!!!!

Klipsch 5.1s were my other choice after I dropped the Creatives from consideration. However, seeing as I couldn't find them (and I refuse to buy used electronics from eBay)...

stopthekilling77 - If you manage to find some Klipsch ProMedia 5.1s, you'd be lucky.

Many reviews I have read say that the Z5500 and ProMedia 5.1s are very close. Either way, you're going to get some killer sound.
