help with new pc

Post by noproblem0 »

hi im plannin on gettin a new pc just for gaming and managed to customise a decent core 2 duo one from computerplanet.co.uk with the followin specs

E6700
2 gig ram
300 gig hd 7200rpm
ASUS SKT-775 P5VD2-MX S/V/L M-ATX 1066 motherboard
700 w psu
INNOD3D 320MB GeF 8800GTS 2xDVI PCI-E SLI

640 pounds (1280 dollars)

the motherboard i chose was the basic 1, will that motherboard b ok for this set up? i have no idea what advantages upgrading the motherboard wud give, is it worth gettin a better motherboard?

im not sure what card to get and whether or not to get vista atm, i cud get this card with vista but i been hearing that it has loads of problems for gamers, was thinking of gettin xp instead for this dx10 card and upgradin later if vista works out, on the other hand i cud get x1950 crossfire which has awesome performance but no dx 10

is 2 gigs ram enuf for vista if i wanna play dx 10 games?
is the 700w psu gud enuf for the forseeable future?
If u ever find urself in a world of ****, just smile and everything will b ok

I don't know about the rest of this, but it would not be a great idea to get Vista with the current GeForce 8800 drivers. They aren't that great.

watts has nothing to do with it. Brand and Build Quality does.

an 8800gts or 8800gtx will be better performance than x1950pro crossfire. I don't know about x1950xtx crossfire. Bot the xtx runs so hot its not even worth it.

2Gb and Dx10 have nothing to do with each other.

In order to run DX10, you need a DX capable card (right now all there is, is the Nvidia 8X00 series cards) and Vista. It will not be on XP.

And please type full words out. We look down on that here. It makes it harder to read and people tend to just ignore posts like that completely

And finally
