Any foreseeable problem?

Post by CMcguire »

With the following components?

*BFG GeForce 8800 GTS OC2 320MB GDDR3 HDTV/Dual DVI (PCI-Express) x2 (or a single BFG GeForce 8800 GTX OC2 768MB GDDR3 HDTV/Dual DVI (PCI-Express) not 100% decided between the two)

*Microsoft Windows Vista Home Premium 32-Bit Edition DVD

*Corsair HX 620W ATX2.2 Modular SLI Compliant PSU (CMPSU-620HXUK)

*Antec P180 Advanced Super Midi Tower Case - No PSU (Black)

*Creative X-Fi Xtreme Gamer 7.1 Soundcard

*Western Digital Raptor X 150GB WD1500AHFD 10,000RPM SATA 16MB Cache

*Corsair 2GB DDR2 XMS2 Dominator PC2-8500C5 TwinX (2x1GB)

*Intel Core 2 Quad Pro Q6600 "LGA775 Kentsfield" 2.40GHz (1066FSB)

*Intel Extreme D975XBX2KR BAD AXE 2 975X (Socket 775) PCI-Express DDR2 Motherboard

*Samsung SH-W183 18x18 DVD±RW Serial ATA Dual Layer ReWriter (Black)

I think it should all be alright but just want to be sure before i go order everything... so if you see any problem here please let me know [-o<

(and i assume the case fans/ stock fans are sufficent with the components not being overclocked?)

That setup would be fine 8)

Only one thing though, that RAM is more than you'll ever need if your not overclocking!
Get some PC6400 sticks instead, you can still overclock with them later on.
This is a good kit 2Gb G.Skill DDR2 PC2-6400 HZ Series
You'll also save over 100euro ;)

unless you plan on getting a window for it, go with a normal raptor. The raptor X is loud. I almost want to get rid of mine. I had plans on getting a windowed case for it but i dont think that is going to fall through.

Conor - I found a problem!

The problem is you could build a perfectly good gaming machine for half of what you'll spend on all that junk - that way you could build two, and give one to me.

hmm.. seems the motherboard doesn't support SLI?.. so i assume it then would not be appropriate if i decided to go with the 2 geforce cards?
