To overclock or not to over clock that is the question..

Whether 'tis nobler in the mind to suffer
The slings and arrows of stock speeds and cooling
Or to take up overclocking againgst a sea of low benchmarks
And by overclocking, end them..

Right so to the point I've heard the Intel Core 2 Quad Pro Q6600 processor is well suited for overclocking.. and as thats the chip i'm going for in my new build do you think i should overclock it?

I can't afford to replace so the processor so i dont want to take a big risk with overclocking it. And i was thinking of going for the Scythe Infinity Heatpipe CPU Cooler with it thoughts?

With good cooling this processor can overclock well over 3Ghz.

Theres not much risk, if any, to kill a processor unless you select the maximum voltage (increasing temperature) and even then, I think he would shut down by himself.

But, unless you need all that processing power, 4 cores at 2.4 Ghz is more than enough for most applications, leaving it at stock frequency still gives you very good performance.

I have a QX6700 and just increased the FSB to 1333MHz and got a nice overclock out of it.
