Is it possible for an out of spec PCI slot to damage a card?

I have just found out that the PCI lock on my K8N Diamond failed, which means that the 260MHz HTT overclocked the PCI slots! Is it possible for these out-of-spec slots to damage the X-Fi soundcard I had installed at the time? Also, is it possible for a damaged soundcard to destroy PCI slots if it were inserted into a motherboard for testing? I don't KNOW for sure that the X-Fi isn't just misbehaving because of the damaged PCI slots on my old K8N...

Sucks to hear. I would have thought it possible that the OC'd PCI bus might have done something to your X-Fi, but wouldn't have thought that a bad X-Fi card could do anything bad back to a different motherboard.

Here's hoping that its just a broken PCI bus on the mobo.

The stupid thing is that the K8N Diamond is supposed to automatically lock the PCI bus down when you overclock...apparently that "feature" doesn't work in my case.
