Plantronics Voyager PRO Bluetooth Headset Review

The Plantronics Voyager PRO is said to be one of the best noise-canceling Bluetooth headsets available on the market today. With two noise-canceling mics on a boom, an adaptive 20-band equalizer, and three layers of WindSmart technology it might really be the best noise-canceling headsets! Read on to find out if your callers will hear every word spoken despite the noise around you or if you'll be yelling like the buffoon you see at airports.

There are a bunch of great Bluetooth headsets on the market today with the Aliph Jawbone, BlueAnt Z9i, and the Plantronics Discovery 925 leading the way. From my perspective, the Plantronics Voyager PRO should be considered by anyone who wants one of the best sounding Bluetooth headsets on the market. The DSP is certainly dialed into reducing background noise and excels in almost all noisy environments.

We didn't try this headset under Vista for applications like Skype. I did just run a test with the built-in Bluetooth stack on my XP laptop (and the PS3) and it recognized and ran with no problem. I know that doesn't answer your question, but being compatible with XP *should* be a good indicator of how the headset will work with Vista.

I'll try and locate a Vista machine equipped with Bluetooth to see for sure.

Actually no in this case. I have had two different bluetooth headsets that worked fine in XP but won't work in Vista. From my research there was a bug in the Vista implementation of bluetooth headsets or at least that is what they claim. In any case so far I haven't been able to get my Motorola or my Ericsson to work.

Are these laptops that you are talking about with built-in stacks or "3rd party/after market" Bluetooth dongles?

3rd party dongles. However Vista can see them as a valid device but from what I read is that they would work fine in the Vista beta but it was yanked from the final version at the last minute. Has anyone got any Bluetooth headset to work in any version of Vista?
