Did you try to hack into it? Is the hardware encryption built on the memory chip itself or is it separate? If separate, do you think the chip could be removed and put on another flash drive board and access all the data without the pin? Is there a way to bypass the encryption if you just want to use it as a regular drive and if so, doesn't this leave a gap in the protection where you should be able to remove one or so lines on the board and just bypass all encryption?

I didn't try to hack into it, however I did talk to Kingston about it, and what I had seen on previous attempts to this type of security / "encryption". Mostly where the keypad was more of an On/Off switch for the USB connection. Kingston said the encryption is built into the memory, so where previous versions by other manufacturers you could jumper the chips and bypass the "encryption" they said it's not possible with this one.

As for being able to bypass the PIN and using it as a plain flash drive, if what Kingston said about the encryption being built into the memory is accurate, you couldn't bypass the PIN to use it as a plain flash drive.

Thanx man. So it seems they have learned from previous attempts and actually made it a lot more secure! If it is truly hack-proof, all companies should invest in these for their employees to stop the lost/stolen data problem.
