Did you try to hack into it? Is the hardware encryption built on the memory chip itself or is it separate? If separate, do you think the chip could be removed and put on another flash drive board and access all the data without the pin? Is there a way to bypass the encryption if you just want to use it as a regular drive and if so, doesn't this leave a gap in the protection where you should be able to remove one or so lines on the board and just bypass all encryption?
