The Chaintech VNF 4 Ultra
In quest of technical support:
1)I built my system using this mainboard, equipping it with a Transcend pc3200 512mb ddr400 cl2,5 ram chip. When equipping the EXACT SAME CHIP my pc starts showing : "ddr333, c.l. 2, Dual Channel" while the bios settings did not change. Is this behavior expected?
2) The specs speak of 2000mt/s HT bus, but the nTune shows only 1000mt/s. Is this supposed to express half the circle ( like f.e. ddr400 shows itself as 200Mhz at the bios) or does the 2000mt/s apply only on Dual Core processors? I am currently using an AMD Athlon 3700+ San Diego

Good questions Nognir.
1) Motherboards can sometimes distort the rated speeds and timings of certain components when it first detects it in the BIOS. It's not really a big deal, just go back in and change the settings to whatever you think will work the best. But don't forget to test for stability and make sure the new settings are stable. I suggest Memtest86+, Prime95, and 3DMark. If all those benchmarks run fine and produce believable results, and your system runs fine under normal useage conditions, then I would have to say your system is stable and good to go.
2) You are right about the HT bus. It says 2000mhz because the DDR memory is "Double Data Rate", so the speed is effectively doubled under normal useage. So just like setting your DDR400 RAM to run at 200 mhz, you set the HT frequency to 1000mhz for full speed (2000 mhz effective). This speed is the same across prettymuch every s939 processor; dual core and single core alike.

Well, thanks for the response.
The settings in the bios are c.l. 2,5, ddr freq:200Mhz. If I switch for auto to manual control the PC won't enter Windows XP Pro SP2. The same with changing memory settings, except for voltage. I am content with performance, but I wonder whether a better memory kit (e.g. Crucial Ballistix or OCZ) would show me the same loading screen. My memory modules are 2xTranscend pc3200 ddr400 512mb c.l.2,5. My memories were not listed in the compatibility list given by Chaintech so I am a bit troubled... Thanks again anyway
