Are you on the DX9 or DX10 version? If you are running Vista (DX10) be sure to update DirectX to the April Version as you need it to correctly run the benchmark! Oh and welcome to the forums!

I was trying to be "loyal" to ATI, so I waited to get a new video card. Now I will say that I'm impressed with ATI's technology, just not with their execution of it (as in a HOT, Power HUNGRY, mess with BAD Drivers...). Hopefully, the R650 will be able to compete. The catch here is that "hardware technology" is allways ahead of the software. And it's obvious that Nvidia has more developer support. Every time I check on a new game title, like Age of Conan, it's sporting an Nvidia logo. So guess whose card I'll buy? :P

ATI WHAT HAPPENED?!?!

Post by pyrogenix19 »

it's remarkable how staggering the difference is. is AMD responsible for such a bad release on ATI's part? this just seems really unusual for ATI. also, I mean, it could just be the early drivers couldn't it?

yup... drivers are for sure one of the biggest issues for both AMD and NVIDIA.

how bad was nvidia scoring on dx10 with their initial drivers? is it comparable to how ATI is doing right now?

I may be wrong, but I don't think there was any DX10 content to test back when G80 was released.

well i ran with the follwoing settings
4xAA
HDR medium
Texture Filter 16xanisotropic
shadow quality med
shadow resolution default
resolution 1280x720
all other settings high

..on a side note turned off AA and turned filtering down to bilinear.. ended up with 94 on snow and 67 on cave... a worse performance on cave with those off compare to on... weird in my book...
