Your best bet to get one is either through eBay or got o notebookforums.com and look at their For Sale section. You MAY be able to get one through Dell directly, but that usually does not happen.

Hope that helps!

I've never poked around in a laptop that I didn't drop. Great article and photos! Very nice performance boost. Glad you got the fans cooling more effectively, that thing is en fuego!

I believe some have done the 7900GTX, as there is a bios for it for the 1705. It takes a little mod, but nothing that is terribly hard or that ruins the chasis. I am not sure about the 7950.

I just bought a E1705 9400, I have the option for a single pipe or dual pipe Gforce 7900 GS, will either one fit in the 9400 E1705??? There is a 30 dollar difference, I already paid for single pipe but he may let me switch, will it fit? If so I will gladly pay to keep it a bit cooler.

Thanks,

You could either in. THe single pipe is a drop in card for the 9400/1705. The dual pipe requires a tab be broken off inside the chasis. it doe snot hurt it, but it needs to be done.

Oh man, thank you so much for this read! My wife has the e1705 and I love it for everything 'cept gaming....now I can turn it into a gamer! :)

But I'm a bit too die-hard an ATi guy to put a 7900gs in, I'm bugging ATi now to see if I can get one of their next gen lappy GPU early to try it with.

I'll let ya know how it goes, otherwise the 7900 is a great card. I just prefer to use ATi stuff since I hate nVidia PR so much.

Thanks again for the read, you made something I thought was impossible look ridiculously easy. Thank you.
