The AMD A64 X2 6000+ is $170 and the Intel Core 2 Duo E6320 is $165.50 ---- I guess that would make for a fair $170 shootout, but I don't have a E6320 to test out or the budget to spend on one right now. Just this week I have spent over $1000 on plane tickets and hotel rooms for Quakecon in Dallas and Fall IDF in San Francisco. If any of our members would let me borrow a E6320 I'd be more than happy to update this article. Unless the money tree I planted in the back yard starts producing money before then.

A Intel E6550 for $170 would be a better pick seeing as it's the most current CPU in that price range, it should easily smoke the AMD I think.

INTEL CORE 2 DUO E6550 (BX80557E6550) 2.33GHZ EM64T DUAL CORE W/4MB CACHE 1333MHZ LGA775-PIN RETAIL BOXED W/COOLING FAN (3 YEARS WARRANTY)

All you would need to do is take your current 6750 and drop the multi to 7x and there you go...........6550.............. 8)

Fricken Newegg is ripping people off on the new cores, you can pretty much get a better price at any of the other big name E-Tailers out there, at least you could when I was ording my E6750. .............. The EGG was the most expensive of them all and their prices were still climbing...............

Its dumb that newegg is taking advantage of their sales by jacking up their prices but I heard others are following suit.

I've seen a few others doing as well today, but not to the extent that the EGG has been doing.............. The EGG has a automated demand pricing system, the more people buy, the higher the price goes automaticly. Which totally sucks IMHO, that's why I hardly shop their anymore for new products, the old standby items are another story, they normally have pretty good prices on those.

yeah i noticed that too, Newegg was like $30 more than anyone else... but i'm really just going to bite the bullet and still get it on the Egg, cause i want it all to arrive at the same time so i can just put it all together... the extra $30 will be worth it considering i've been waiting a full year to buy a new computer (consider my PIII running @ 1.0Ghz........ yeah.)

Man, $30 bucks is like a new SATA DVD RW..........that's a lot of extra cash just to give away, but I'm poor and every $$ has to count.
