Cooler Master V10 CPU Cooler Review

The Cooler Master V10 CPU cooler is said to be capable of dissipating over 200 Watts of heat generated by processors, which makes it one of the most powerful coolers money can buy. With ten 6mm heat pipes, a TEC (Thermo-Electric Cooling), and two cooling fans this CPU cooler looks like it should cool any processor with no problems! Read on to see how it performs with an Intel Core i7 and Core 2 CPU.

I have to say that I really like the V10. Cooler Master has been hard at work on it for over a year and it looks like all that hard work paid off. Yes it is big, yes it is bulky, but that and the ability to cool so well are what make this thing awesome. Even though you may not get Megan Fox under your side panel checking it out, I'm sure that you'll have plenty of friends asking you about your new CPU cooler.

Woah, it spanked the TRUE in the Core i7 tests. I do like that they take into account memory and PWM cooling. We are seeing more and more heatsinks like that and they really do help keep overall system temperatures down. I wonder how badly the mount is affected by the weight of the cooler though

only 2.65 lbs... Heck they shoulda added some more heat pipes to it and gone for 3.00lbs

What's the life expectency of the TEC?

You read my mind dude..I was gonna PM you to see when you would review this monster..I looked all around the net and couldn't see what place was BS or not..Luckily I know LR isn't full of guff..will match my red led setup too ..Do we know if the dominators can still fit with that on though? I hope so...

For $12 more you can pickup a Swiftech H20-220 water cooling kit. Or for $60 less you can pickup a Thermalright True 120 and choose your fan(s). This monster is more of a promotional/conversational piece than a feasible product. It just screams hey look at me, I'm Cooler Master and I need attention. Review my product and put it on your website.

I thought grabbing attention was the idea of selling a product? Besides, I haven't seen water cooling do but maybe a couple of degrees cooler if that at those speed settings..so I think this would be a sound investment for those who don't like the water and want to OC some along with cooling other parts. I know I'm a little uncomfy with putting water in my $2000 rig since I've never done it before though I' not saying I would never do it.

Grabbing attention is the key to generating sales. Name recognition helps with residual sales also. But I personally don't see the price/performance here to justify the cost. Kudos to Cooler Master's marketing department, no kudos for their R&D department.

hehe..man or not, my i7 is going to get cooled one way or another lol...I considered the Coolit Domino but, the results on that and this are similar with the same/similar settings so its a toss up for me

I do agree with you on that it is a pretty mean price..for that much I expected a little more too but it's still better than I thought

I have to wonder if the TEC can be replaced with one that is a much higher wattage.

After looking at this thing I can't quite tell but it doesn't look like the cold plate of the TEC is on the bottom. It looks like it is attached to the heatsink that is just going straight up. To me this wouldn't be optimum placement. Wouldn't it preform MUCH better if the TEC was in contact with the CPU? This would allow the cold plate to be run at a much cooler temp and put the heat pipes on that thing to work big time. It would require a redesign of the heat pipes but I would think that the overall cooling power would be MUCH greater.

But then they would have to worry about the backlash from people frying components because they didn't seal things correctly to keep the condensation out.

bah the whiners I'm sure are already all over it the way it is now.

NOTE: I have my 920 at 4ghz on this thing and i haven't seen 60C since I got it. Even when gaming, I haven't seen it go over 50C since the replacement came..I am using the Noctua NT-H1 Thermal paste too(not the economical paste in a bag CM gives in the box)...not bad at all without water. Makes me very happy
