Kingston HyperX DDR3 4GB 2133MHz Memory Review

Kingston is no stranger to high performance memory kits. With HyperX kits available for just about any platform you can think of, it is no surprise that with the launch of Intel’s Lynnfield CPU they have released one of their fastest kit to date. Running at 2133MHz, this dual channel DDR3 memory kit is blazing fast out of the box.

Here we have reached an awesome 2400MHz at CL9. It was a bit more difficult as we started running into memory and PCI-e controller limitations. We upped the volts a bit to 1.75 on the memory (from 1.65) and the QPI to 1.35 (from 1.3). This was the fastest we could reach with any sort of stability in our short time overclocking the memory. There is still much more to it for anyone willing to spend some time tweaking things!

Not worth it for the price you'd be paying... I'd rather get an additional GPU or better cooling for my components.

yeah this is clearly a kit for those that aren't worried about price tags and want the highest binning memory kit they have.

Yup, kits past 1600C9 are useless to be honest unless you need every last bit of performance. DDR3-2133MHz are a positive nightmare on LGA1366, at least LGA1156 has a better memory controller and makes 2133C8 a piece of cake :) These kits are 100% PR and not even 100% utilized by competitive overclockers. Oh well, they are fun to play with!
