Overclocking The MSI 790FX-GD70 Motherboard Revisited

Our first go at overclocking the MSI 790FX-GD70 was not a very good experience. We ended up blowing up a component on the board before we were able to get any results. MSI sent out a replacement board and today we will see if the new board will give us some love, or will it just blow blow up like the last one.

Very nice. Much better than the original board.

Is there going to be a follow up or something where we can see its overclocking potential by using the unlocked multiplier only, then overclocking by both the multiplier and the bus speed?

He sorta did that....

He left the multiplier at 14 and the highest base clock he could reach was 255MHz, which was good for 3.57GHz.

He then dropped the multiplier down to 12 and then cranked up the base clock to the highest he could, which was 272MHz. This only gave a core clock frequency of 3.26GHz though.
