Glad to see my nearly one year old purchase isn't a total waste now.

Why not run RE5 in DX10? I tested the two for grins and I got a lot better performance with DX10.

The GTX 260 SOC is a monster card but it does have a few things going against it. Primarily is the lack of DX11. Depending on what your upgrade cycle is this can be a huge issue. I personally would grab an HD5770 as they have ridiculously low idle power consumption and the loaded power consumption is also very low versus the GTX 260. Top that with the fact that they are ~$160 and good enough for gaming at up to ~1920x1200 and it sounds like a good buy to me. Just one opinion though, might be worth searching for a direct comparison between the 5770 and the GTX 260 with current drivers.

I've been doing a lot research and I actually just RMA'd a 5750 because that was a piece of junk (Vapor-X cold booting problems). My problem with DX11 is that it is (IMO) marketing jargon. In looking at DX11 benchmarks, the 5770 can't even kept up. I only play at 1680x1050 but I don't ever want to think about my performance. By that I mean that I want to be able to play games smoothly and not watch it burp on me. I'm not asking to play with 8xAA but I just want smooth playability on high settings. Besides, I really hate ATI drivers on a Nvidia chipset board. My other thought has been to just SLI 2 GTS 250s which would be in between the cost of the 5770 and the GTX 260. What are your thoughts on the SLI idea?

The MSI HD 5770 Hawk is a beast and silly easy to overclock. I'm trying to get one for review to compare to my HD4890, I think it'd stomp the 4890 in efficiency

Avoid multi-GPU at all costs. It is less efficient and still strife with problems versus a single GPU. Plus for your initial purchase if you go with a bigger GPU LATER you can add a second GPU. I personally find that to be the strongest feature of SLI/CF.
