ATI has ten Radeon HD 5000 series graphics cards on the market today and if you think they are going to stop there you are sadly mistaken. Today AMD is announcing the Radeon HD 5830 graphics card, which is the 'big brother' of the $143 Radeon HD 5770 and the 'little brother' of the $299 Radeon HD 5850. Read on to see how the $239 Radeon HD 5830 does in our in-depth testing!

The ATI Radeon HD 5830 will carry an SEP of $239, which helps fill the rather large price gap between the Radeon HD 5770 and the Radeon HD 5850 graphics cards. The lowest priced Radeon HD 5770 that we could find on the retail market is the POWERCOLOR AX5770 at $142.99 shipped. The lowest priced Radeon HD 5850 also happens to be a POWERCOLOR Radeon AX850 at $299.99 shipped. Anyone that has shopped for a DirectX 11 capable graphics card is likely to notice that the price more than doubles to go from the Radeon HD 5770 to the Radeon HD 5850 series. This $157 price jump is a bit much, so it is nice to see a card like the Radeon HD 5830 nearly split the price gap and come in at the $239 price point.

a bargain compared to the GTX260 216 or better on the nvidia camp :)

surprised about the difference in performance in most games and the performance in benchmarks between the two camps(GTX285 vs 5830) the 5830 beats it in benches but not games :-k

most places in the UK the 5830 is £210 and the 5850 is £220-£250 (£250 being able to buy it Right away as in stock, 220 pre order or Trade) not worth the Drop in performance 5850 better option or the 5770 for cheapness but still be able to play games

the drivers still do not come with OpenCL (SDK most Will not get, Direct compute is Vista and win7 only)
