Loved the whitebook, Nate. I was wondering about a HD at 7200RPMs to go with that system though. Is it worth it for the extra $100 it will cost? Any suggestions for a 7200rpm HD?

That all depends on what you want to use your laptop for, if your looking for battery life and dont mind sacrificing alittle performance then a 4200 or 5400 rpm drive will greatly improve your battery time. if you want all out perforamnce then yeah go for it but your not going to see that much difference from a good quality 5400 like the seagate to a 7200.

Just finished reading this review and I really appreciate the work that went into it. It's not often you see a review thatcan double into a manual!

Just bought a similar setup (different memory) to your write-up. I have it all assembled except for that Intel wireless card. The description says black lead to main, white lead to aux. The photo shows the opposite. Which is it? Thanks.

I've actually done it both ways and it works either way, so I don't think you can do it incorrectly and damage the wireless card.

I saw Nate's workshop at QuakeCon '05 and was very impressed. I'm really considering building my own with this chassis come next year to replace my current laptop (which is almost two years old and is starting to develop minor but annoying problems). I may just hang on another year since I have until February '07 before the warranty runs out. Decisions, decisions!
