EVGA SR-2 Motherboard Gets A Custom PC Case
We had a chance to stop by and meet with EVGA at Computex 2010 and found that they are showing off their first ever PC case! The case doesn't have a name yet, but it has been developed to properly enclose their massive $599.99 EVGA Classified Super Record 2 (SR-2) motherboard. we have pictures from both of the original case prototypes that are a must see.

You know the case is big when it makes a 24" monitor look small.

Beats me why they just didn't ask cooler master for a custom HAF932 case

or one of those really expensive HP blackbird cases now that would have been smexy

or an silverstone RV02

Could always get a Mountain Mods Crystal Ship Ascension CYO, nice looking and the SR2 will fit. Its $450, but if you can drop the coin on the SR2 then you can swing the MM case

Even if I had the money for that or the board...they'd have to paint the interior black for me to buy it. Until then, I keep my kidney..and most of my blood.

If you have the money for the board then you must have the $$$ to get the remaining part of the case powder coated black. Or the $ for a can of black paint.
It's just a Cooler Master ATCS 840 in another form. I currently have an ATCS 840 on the bench with the control and I/O panels removed for some case mods. It was easy to take them off.
The only thing I really don't like about the EVGA modded SR-2 case is the fact the area up top is taken up by the power supply. That change ends up blocking one of the top fans.
Oh, and there is another complaint for the drive bays. I like the way they work well enough. The back is setup with bossed nuts as if there was going to be a backplane for the hard drives. However, no hard drive backplane has yet appeared. Having a SATA or SAS backplane would be a welcome addition I would gladly pay for. Talk about neatening up the build!

Quite true...Although having the money doesn't quite mean that person has the experience in doing a proper paint job, or the patience.

Anyone know what the CPU coolers in the pictures are? It looks like the coolermaster logo, and they sort of look like the cooler master v-series, but not quite. Any higher-res pictures available...? Would really appreciate it.
