Apple iPhone 4 Unboxing One Day Early!

Apple iPhone 4 Unboxing One Day Early!

Apple and AT&T must have realized that wait to deliver their customers iPhone 4's on launch day would going to cause an activation nightmare and as such has allowed shipping companies to deliver them as they arrive. We were lucky enough to get one this afternoon, so we figured the least that we could do is give you a sneak peak at our Apple iPhone 4 32GB black that we ordered in.

Finally, the new iPhone 4 comes out of the box and can be seen and touched for the very first time! Right off the bat we could tell that it was thinner and sleeker than the iPhone 3G that we will be replacing. The iPhone 4 has a new engineered glass screen that is comprised of two glossy panels of aluminosilicate glass (a.k.a. "Gorilla Glass") — the same type of glass used in the windshields of helicopters and high-speed trains.

Arrived at noon EST but I worked until 5pm so we didn't have much time to play with it for the article.

There have been rumors online of the phone dropping service when you hold it on the antenna bar and also that some of the retina displays have a yellowish line. Any sign of the yellowing or reproducability of the service drop?

at about 49s you can see the bars drop off. Weird

I cannot replicate the dropped/reduced signal issue and the screen appears to be yellow-free. Reports are that there aren't really any replacement units available. Phew!
