Gigabyte GO OC 2010 North America Overclocking Championships
The 2010 North American Gigabyte Open Overclocking Championship features 12 of the best overclockers from North America, so you know it will be a good time to get them all in the same room. Read on to see what happens as we'll be updating this article as the day goes on. Think of it as a live blog this time around!
Each overclocker is given hardware by Gigabyte to overclock on. All the hardware is the same, but of course not all hardware performs the same. This brings a little luck into the competition, which always makes things interesting as when luck is involved the underdogs always have a shot at taking home first place.

* VGA: GIGABYTE GeForce GT 240 GV-240D5-512I
* Memory: Kingston KHX2250C9D3T1FK3/6GX
* SSD: Kingston SSD-SNV425-S2/64GB
* Power Supply: Thermaltake Toughpower 1200W
* Monitor: GIGABYTE
* Keyboard: GIGABYTE K6800
* Mouse: GIGABYTE M8000X

All that processing power with a Intel 980X and a GeForce GT 240 graphics card seems a bit odd to me

its all about marketing as little as it seems (including- but not limited to, the entire competition)

I can understand them using a Gigabyte card, but a GT 240...Gigabyte does make faster cards.

thanks for updating the results! was waiting around the OverclockingTV stream for the awards ceremony and it just didnt come soon enough haha
woulda looked around for ya in the stream but i started watching it way too late (maxxmem was just ending when i joined)
edit: because the better cards dont need advertising.. besides it is 2D benching and graphics don't matter, bigger cards just make extra heat and get in the way more (and who cares if you accidentally fry a GT 240 from condensation, frying a $500 card is never good)

Didn't realize they were only doing 2d, haven't paid much attention to the competition, now the GT 240 makes sense.

you would be surprised how many CPU competitions there are compared to GPU (though some competitions include a specific GPU bench or two along with the CPU benches)
