MSI N550GTX-Ti Cyclone II OC Video Card Review

The MSI N550GTX-Ti Cyclone II OC 1GB graphics cards is based on the NVIDIA Geforce GTX 550 Ti GPU, but is kept nice and cool with the MSI Cyclone II cooling solution. The N550GTX-Ti Cyclone II OC is factory overclocked with the core clock set to 950MHz and the memory at 1075MHz. We put this overclocked GF116 card to the test to see how it performs, keeps cool and overclocks!

The MSI N550GTX-Ti Cyclone II OC graphics card sports a black and silver color scheme and has a very aggressive look to the card. It almost looks like the GPU cooler could be used as a weapon, but this is the look that MSI was going for with this cooler design. The MSI N550GTX-Ti Cyclone OC peaked at 59C according to Furmark and that is amazing to say the least. The only other GeForce GTX 550 Ti video card that we reviewed has been the ASUS Ultimate GeForce GTX550 Ti and this card was significantly cooler than that. The ASUS Ultimate GTX550 Ti 1GB peaked at 76C, which means that the MSI card is 22% or 17C cooler at load...

Looking at this picture the perspective looks like the fan is going to hit the PCI slot.

I'm glad that nVidia has given their AIB partners the ability to use custom heatsinks, PCB and other stuff. In the end it's a win for us, the customers.
