Amped Wireless R20000G High Power Dual Band Router Review

Today we looked at the Amped Wireless R20000G Dual Band Wireless router. The R20000G features dual high powered 2.4GHz 600mW amplifiers, with dual high power 5.0 GHz amplifiers and dual low noise amplifiers for improving wireless reception. Amped Wireless outfitted this router with tons of bells and whistles but can it really hold up to other more expensive routers? Read on to find out!!

After using the Amped Wireless R20000G for a couple of weeks, one of the things we noticed is that the R20000G does have quite the amplifier built in to the unit. Our wireless tests showed that the Amped Wireless Router wasn’t the fastest in our battery of speed tests, but we did observe a pretty robust range of use. Amped Wireless markets the R20000G Router as a WiFi device that has tremendous range and power. Hmmmm while not the best in everything, this router appears to be well-rounded taking all things in consideration. Being a bit less 'trained" in all things tech and finding myself asking for help more than most, I think this paragraph impressed me as much and held just as much weight as the specs themselves:

Amped Wireless ships the R200000G with a 1-year limited manufacturer’s warranty. We had some issues with our initial router setup and accessing the user interface menu. We called Amped support and were able to talk to a live person within about a minute of calling. Our issue turned out to be some corruption in our IE browser that had nothing to do with the Amped Wireless hardware. We certainly appreciated the great customer support and the ease in which we were able to get a human being on the phone.

The fact that they were able to help troubleshoot a problem outside of their hardware speaks volumes about their knowledge and willingness to help their customers have a satisfactory experience with their product. Ultimately it costs less to help get you up and running than to RMA for something that could be non-hardware related in the first place. In this day and age I see more negative comments about a company's customer support than I do about the products themselves as I am browsing/window shopping for tech products.

Kid, thanks for pointing out that paragraph since I was temped to leave it out. I was actually really impressed with their customer service...first off at getting a live person and secondly, how well they troubleshoot a problem that wasn't theirs. It really speaks well of Amped Wireless as a company overall.
