CES 2013: OCZ Shows Of Their PCIe Vector SSD
OCZ's Vector drive was a big hit and it pushed the limits of the SATA III 6Gbps interface. What next? Move it to PCIe and throw a couple of Indilinx Barefoot 3 controllers on there and stand back as it rockets to 1000MB/s throughputs. We stopped by to see OCZ at CES and were able to see them first hand.

CES 2013: OCZ Shows Of Their PCIe Vector SSD
Re: CES 2013: OCZ Shows Of Their PCIe Vector SSD
I don't yet know too much about PCIe SSD drives. I hope to see future testing of these drives in the various pcie ports on mobos. For example, will it run faster on pcie 3.0 vs. 2.0? I would think so. Also, I'm one of those folks who would not want to give up a slot on my mobo from my gpu or gpuS in SLI/Crossfire. So, how will they perform in a 2nd or 3rd slot? By this I mean how will they perform in 16x vs 8x, or 4x? These were just natural things that occurred to me as I read about it. This is VERY exciting technology! I love the CES coverage guys! Keep it up!

They will run at 4X not a problem because that's what they were designed for, if you use something like a F2A85X-UP4(Of all motherboards ...) you have a electrically PCI-E 4X socket at the bottomCoachAub wrote:I don't yet know too much about PCIe SSD drives. The first OCZ PCI-E SSDs should be the RevoDrive X2 i think and that was already twice the speed of SSDs at the time
