Inateck FD1006C UASP USB 3.0 Docking Station Review
Re: Inateck FD1006C UASP USB 3.0 Docking Station Review
I have one problem with this device: I mostly use a docking station for transfering large files between big HDD's and also have it connected 24/7 to my Dune HD Base media player to watch movies. The Dune has an internal bay inside but I find the HDD overheating a lot despite the little fan that supposed to draw out the hot air, so I use a dock and connect it to the MP with a USB cable. My docking station is open, so the HDD is exposed and cooled well by surrounding air and the media player also stays cool inside. Now when watching movies for many hours, or my kids watching cartoons from the media player, the HDD can get VERY hot in an enclosure, so no thanks - I rather have an open docking station and dust it off sometimes, than have my HDD cooking inside it.

SSDs generally do not have heat issues...I wouldn't even bother using this product with an HDD for anything other than a one off connect to move some files.

All I'm saying is that I would prefer to have the traditional open shape. I would even buy it because mine is just a e-SATA, USB2.0. The price is right I - do not like the design though.FZ1 wrote:SSDs generally do not have heat issues...I wouldn't even bother using this product with an HDD for anything other than a one off connect to move some files.

Why not just leave the top cover off this model? That would allow all the hot air to rise and like you said the price is right.
